About Us
The word 'é»’Kuro', Japanese for 'black', perfectly describes the simple purity of fresh brewed coffee. At Kuro Coffee brewers, our inspiration for coffee comes from the craftsmanship of Japanese brewing methods, namely the pour over method. This humble brewing style brings you closer to the coffee you are drinking. The smell of the coffee as the fresh grounds bloom, the steam rising from the dripper, the clean pour when the brew is finished, up until the delicious first sip that relaxes your soul and energizes your mind. From brew to cup we strive for the best quality coffee you can find.
Pour Over
The keys to perfect pour over are patience and consistency. First we weigh the beans, ensuring the perfect coffee to water ratio each brew. We then grind the coffee beans to a medium-course consistency, allowing just enough of the flavors and aromas to be released from the beans. To begin the brew, we prime the grounds with a small amount of water. This starts the blooming process, in which the hot water force the C02 gasses in the grounds to be released, causing them to bubble up and release beautiful aromas. After the bloom, we continue adding water slowly, ensuring the brew does not finish too early.
Espresso
Espresso is a truly unique brewing method. The machine uses a pump to press the water through finely ground coffee with extreme pressure. This pressure is what infuses the water with the coffee, producing intense flavor. Steamed milk is also key to many great espresso drinks. When done properly, the milk adds excellent flavor and texture dynamics to the espresso.
